FORMALDEHYDE-FREE pH 11 ACTIVE SURFACTANT MATTER: 27 - 29
Flower Tales Sodium Laureath Sulfate (SLES) is a common anionic primary surfactant. This new generation SLES is free from formaldehyde or any other preservative. Its excellent detergent properties make it a fairly aggressive product but normally well tolerated by the skin and hair. This is an anionic surfactant and is compatible with amphoteric and non-ionic surfactants.
WHY HAS FLOWER TALES CHOSEN TO OFFER THIS PRODUCT? Previously there were concerns about the potential carcinogenic effects of SLES. However, more recent studies have revealed that it is safe. In contrast with the majority of Flower Tales’ products, it is not a 100% natural product nor it is fully biodegradable. Nevertheless many consumers find Sodium Laureath Sulfate a very versatile surfactant which is safe and normally very well tolerated, especially when combined with other co-surfactants. Flower Tales also offers a 100% natural alternative : see our Ammonium Lauryl Sulphate.
APPLICATIONS: Its versatility and tolerance make it the main primary surfactant in most homemade cosmetic detergents and do-it-yourself home cleaning products. In cosmetic products it should be combined with more noble secondary surfactants, such as Flower Tales Cocoamidopropyl Betaine, and mitigated with softening and stabilising co-surfactant such as Flower Tales Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate.
